Snowflake the Elephant

Snowflake the Elephant is one of two life-sized elephant sculptures that were created for the 2012 Sarasota Chalk Festival that was celebrating the theme 'Circus City USA'. Each elephant graced the entrance into the festival, one to the north and one to the south. Feld Entertainment loaned us original Elephant Blankets from the Ringling, Barnum & Bailey Circus that were put on each elephant for the duration of the festival.

The 2012 'Circus' theme has performers such as Nik and Erendira Wallenda, Chance the Chimp, The Sailor Circus, Sarasota Circus, Clowns from Feld Entertainment, Fuzion Dance, and Aisling Ni Cheallaigh Aerialist from Ireland to name a few.

The elephant sculptures where hand carved by Kumpa Tawornprom, a festival artist that has also created oversized picture frames and mermaid tails for the entrances into the festival in 2011 'Pavement Art through the Ages' theme, the Statue of Liberty for the 2013 'Veteran' theme, An Orange for the 2015 'Eat Drink and Be Merry' theme, Sharks for the 2014 'Extinct and Endangered Species' theme, LOVE & PEACE for 2016 theme, and the love hand weathervane for the 'Garden of Wonder' among other wonderful contributions.

The Sarasota Chalk Festival is a beloved celebration of world renown talented street painters (chalk artists) who create oversized masterpieces in chalk on the pavement. Thousands of enthusiastic visitors are literally drawn to downtown Sarasota and Venice to become a part of the creative process as spectators.
